Welcome to Warp Space!
In this blog I aim to help you become the confident, creative weaver you want to be. I will be sharing the knowledge and processes that experienced weavers take for granted, but which often leave new weavers baffled. I know this kind of bafflement well, because it also happened to me. I haven’t forgotten how frustrating it feels, when you want to accomplish something but can’t quite work out where to begin.
If you are new to shaft weaving, or have been weaving a while but would like to progress, then I hope you will find answers to your questions here. And if you have questions that you would like me to address, do get in touch and let me know.
I’m looking forward to sharing your journey into weaving: thank you for reading!

Thank you Cally for demystifying drafts.
Do you conduct class’s on looking at a piece of material and then writing the draft from it?
I am new to weaving but have already transferred from a rigid heddle loom to a 4 shaft table loom of unknown manufacture. I also bought an old LeClerc Aristat 4 shaft and after rejuvenating it I want to weave on it.
Nothing beats using a loom for knowing what needs to be fixed on it.
I have read your blogs avidly and wish to get more into what you obviously love.
I also had a light bulb moment when you talked about using color to make an item pop as I was thinking I needed to do more intricate patterns to get the pop
pnce again thanks.
PS my wife loves the fact that a Scot is showing the way

Ray
Hi Ray
I am really glad you are finding the blog useful! A large part of my motivation is to fill the gap in understanding that I was painfully aware of when I started weaving as well as to address the questions that my students ask most often. I haven’t thought about a class in fabric analysis but that is an interesting idea. If there is a particular piece of fabric that you are looking at and puzzling over do let me know.
